Montage Study Finds Most Job Seekers Say Skype Not Suitable for Video Interviews
“What these candidates experienced is something a growing number of companies have learned the hard way: consumer video tools do not lend themselves well to interviews. For a casual user, the quality of the experience is less important. But for an individual conducting a job interview, ease of use and a positive experience is critical. They need reliable, intuitive technology and a support team available to ensure that everything goes smoothly,” stated Montage CEO Kurt Heikkinen.
Somewhat surprisingly, younger generations of job seekers were equally uncomfortable using Skype as their older colleagues in the employment market. Just 20 percent of job seekers between the ages of 18 and 24 found Skype to be a useful solution for job interviews. The total pool of participants, numbering 3,376 individuals with incomes ranging between $0 and $149,000, included those who had used Skype for video-interviewing purposes within the past six months.
