Anticipating Changes from Google Wallet
“I’ve got my eye on a few things to spend my money on. I’ve got my own bank card but I am really good with money. I don’t spend too much at all,” said teen idol Justin Bieber.
Well, things are about to change for Justin Bieber’s generation. They will grow into adulthood alongside new technology that allows for easy spending. Google Wallet is a new application to put on your smartphone that will facilitate retail interactions void of any salespeople.
Consumers will simply be able to wave their phones over a digital sensor to pay for their items– be it a sandwich at a crowded restaurant or a bra at a fancy department store. Shoppers will be able to leave the store without any other human knowing precisely what happened in the moment.
This new trend technology will certainly change what it means to work in retail. It will also change how credit cards function. Meanwhile, cell phone makers scramble to make their phones compatible with this new app.
How will people’s behavior change with this new development? Will people be more likely to spend more money? Will young people blooded on their smartphones eagerly adapt to this new technology? Will retail workers protest to this new development? As a recruiter, what other effects can you anticipate?
