14 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Work Over the Weekend [Infographic]
You’re the hardest-working person in the office. All your slacker coworkers clock out at 5 P.M. sharp, but not you! You’re still grinding it out well past dinnertime. Vacation? You don’t have time for that. Heck, you don’t even have time for a relaxing weekend – you’re always bringing work home to occupy your Saturdays and Sundays. That’s why you’re the best.
Or so you might think.
You may not be as much of a workaholic as our caricature is, but if you’re regularly working over the weekend, that’s a habit you should break ASAP. You might believe it makes you more productive, but research suggests that working more than 50 hours a week doesn’t translate to significant performance gains. In fact, at the 55-hour mark, your productivity actually decreases.
That’s not to mention all the negative affects that working too much can have on your physical health, your psychological well-being, your relationships, and so on and so forth.
